Belle Brown-McEwen (she/her) is an emerging dance artist from Regina, Saskatchewan. As a dancer, Belle is intentioned, emotive, and specific. Her artistic work is rooted in the prairies and fuses contemporary dance, improvisation, and theatre.
She began dancing in 2007 with FadaDance Studio. As a member of the FadaDance Youth Company, Belle travelled to Taiwan (2012) and Denmark (2015) to take part in the Dance and the Child International Conference.
As an emerging choreographer, she has created work for Instinctive (2013), Moon Age Daydream (2014), Get on the Bus! (2016), Lo-Fi, Hi-Fi (2017), T-E-X-T (2018), Get on the Bus – In Transit (2019), Rivulets (2023), and Unravel & Thread (2024). She has also created work for various festivals and events; including the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Nuit Blanche, and JDC West.
Belle has danced with the Trails Ensemble as a pre-professional dancer since 2019. The Ensemble was featured in the Grand Acts of Theatre: Trespassers Waltz (2020) and the Regina Symphony Orchestra Christmas Special (2021). The Ensemble also performed a full-length contemporary dance show – Holloway – both as a site-specific work in the Qu’Appelle Valley (2022) and at Darke Hall (2023). Recently, as a dancer in the Emerging Ensemble, Belle premiered her first solo work “Familial Ties” at FadaDance Troupe’s Unravel & Thread (2024) at Darke Hall.
Under the mentorship of Meredith LaRocque, Belle began teaching creative movement classes in 2013. Since then she has taught a variety of ages and classes with FadaDance Studio and as an independent artist around Regina. Most notably, Belle has taught with Globe Theatre School as a lead theatre instructor and movement sessional.
Belle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Hill School of Business (U of R), which makes her an asset to the FadaDance Management Team. Her favourite time of the week is Business Time!
